THE COCONUT WATER CRAZE
Looking for a natural drink other than water? It has to be coconut water ! Coconut water contains salts, sugars, vitamins, and minerals. It is given to dehydrated people as it is able to hydrate the system instantaneously. It is rich in electrolytes like calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus. The electrolyte composition of coconut water is very similar to that of human plasma, hence the instant results. Moreover, it does not contain fat in any form at all.
Celebrities like Madonna and Rihanna invested in coconut water companies and this obsession is changing people’s lives in tropical countries. Well I can tell you that they are right. The numerous benefits of coconut water made me join the craze. It’s a very popular post – workout drink and it’s high in vitamin B, which is known to make energy and helps manage stress and anxiety, the hydratation gives your skin a glow, potassium for great muscles and Vitamin C for protection against illness..It helps in overcoming and reducing sugar and food cravings and these cravings which often leads to weight gain.
It contains no fats and cholesterol.
Here is a coconut water smoothie recipe :
2 cups chopped fresh pineapple
1 cup coconut sorbet
1 cup Greek yogurt
3/4 cup coconut water
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1/4 cup fresh shaved coconut
A few handfuls coconut water ice cubes*
Place the pineapple, coconut sorbet, yogurt, coconut water, coconut milk, and shaved coconut in a blender and mix on high for at least 1 minute. If thinner consistency is desired, add more coconut water, yogurt or more coconut milk. Serve in a coconut, if desired.
*Cook’s Note: Pour extra coconut water into an ice tray and freeze until solid.
